VC04 VARI-A-CUT Portable Tenon Cutter USING THE TENON CUTTER

The VC04 VARI-A-CUT Tenon Cutter is to be used in a 5/8″ or 3/4″ portable electric drill. It can be used as a fixed style cutter or the tenon size can be adjusted by replacing the 2 1/2” dia. aluminum insert sleeve and the knives with the correct sized insert kit. The sleeve can be exchanged or replaced by loosening the set screw on the side of the cutter head. The VC04 is variable from 3/4″ to 2-1/2″ tenon dia.

SETTING THE KNIVES

The most practical method for adjusting the knives is to insert a tenoned piece of wood and setting the knives against it. If the Tenon Cutter is too aggressive, then set the knives out. If the wood tenons too slowly, then set the knives in or resharpen them.

The cutter should throw nice shavings. If it begins throwing sawdust then the knives are likely dull. The knives should be sharpened on a straight knife grinder at a 30° angle.

The operator must keep all body parts away from the cutter at all times. The drill and work piece must be mechanically secured for safe operation.

The cutter should not be turning faster than 500 RPM.
